Contains Tolkien’s poem The Cat and the Fiddle: A Nursery-Rhyme Undone and Its Scandalous Secret Unlocked.

See pp.1-3.

The poem is reprinted in Three Early Poems.
The manuscript version of The Cat and the Fiddle can be found in The Return of the Shadow (1988).
A revised version is published in The Fellowship of the Ring without a title and in The Adventures of Tom Bombadil as The Man in the Moon Stayed up too Late.

The image opposite shows the Jan-Feb 1923 issue. The Oct-Nov issue is similar but the new poem announced under the editor’s name is “The Cat and the Fiddle” by J.R.R. Tolkien.
