This book club edition was printed along with the Third Impression of the Allen & Unwin edition.

Issued in a plain yellow cloth covered binding rather than the decorated green cloth binding used by Allen & Unwin.

Wayne Hammond's Tolkien bibliography notes that the dustwrapper was "in black, orange and white". This is incorrect - it was printed with orange ink on white paper.
