Notes
The Realms of the Noldor and the Sindar map is located facing page 149. The Map of Beleriand and the Lands to the North also appears on integral pages. The two eastern quarters of the map were omitted from the 1st Impression in error. This was corrected for the 2nd Impression.

The 1951 letter from Tolkien to Milton Waldman does not appear in the 1st or 2nd Impressions. It is uncertain when this was introduced, but it was present in the 5th Impression. (Previously published in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien (1981) – See Letter 131)
