Notes
Includes Words of Joy: Five Catholic Prayers - Part Two - edited by Patrick Wynne, Arden R. Smith and Carl F. Hostetter. (The first part can be found in Vinyar Tengwar Issue 43)

Words of Joy is a collection of five Quenya translations of Catholic prayers. The title Words of Joy is taken from a letter by Tolkien to his son Christopher (see The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien (1981), Letter 54).

This part of the collection includes:

Ortírielyanna (Sub Tuum Praesidium)

The Litany of Loreto

A manuscript page showing the prayers is reproduced.

Also included are Ae Adar Nín (The Lord's Prayer in Sindarin, edited by Bill Welden) and Alcar mi Tarmenel na Erun (The Gloria in Excelsis Deo in Quenya, edited by Arden R. Smith). A manuscript page for Ae Adar Nín is also reproduced.

The manuscript page for Ae Adar Nín is also reproduced on the upper cover of Tolkien Studies 2007.

The image opposite is from the 2005 reprint. The original cover may have been a pale grey colour.
