Notes
Tolkien's Shire by John Ezard includes extracts from his 1966 interview with Tolkien in which he talks about his early life at Sarehole and its influence on his stories.

See pp.4-6.

The extracts are slightly abbreviated from those printed in the Oxford Mail in 1966 - the main omission being a reference to the two millers at Sarehole going straight into Farmer Giles.
