Features Thror’s Map and the Map of Wilderland on the endpapers. Includes five colour illustrations in addition to the eight standard black and white illustrations.

For this impression, the text of the 1966 Third Edition was reset, Tolkien's illustration Bilbo woke with the early sun in his eyes was added and and the lettering on the dustwrapper was modified slightly to aid clarity.
