There are three variants of this edition:
1) This variant appears to be the Houghton Mifflin Edition ‘converted’ to a Guild Publishing Edition. The binding has ‘Houghton Mifflin’ on the spine, and the title page and verso bears the Houghton Mifflin imprint and publishing details. The Guild Publishing imprint and publishing details have been added on labels pasted over the American details. The dustwrapper bears the Guild Publishing name as printed, i.e. is not altered from Houghton Mifflin. This variant is not noted in Wayne Hammond’s bibliography.
2) This variant appears to be the Houghton Mifflin Edition ‘converted’ to a Book Club Associates (BCA) Edition. The binding has ‘Houghton Mifflin’ on the spine, and the title page and verso bears the Houghton Mifflin imprint and publishing details. The BCA imprint and publishing details have been added on labels pasted over the American details. The dustwrapper bears the BCA name as printed, i.e. is not altered from Houghton Mifflin. This variant is not noted in Wayne Hammond’s bibliography.
3) This variant has the Guild Publishing imprint and publishing details as printed and is in a Guild Publishing binding.
The dustwrapper on the 'converted' editions is a slightly darker shade of green. The lighter variant is shown opposite. See the image for the Allen & Unwin Edition for the darker variant.
